‘Home away from home’ is a very cliché term, yet relevant in this setting. For a little over two years [I think... wow, time flies] I’ve been working with Crown Metropol. Given that I resided in Melbourne between the years 2015 and 2017, I'm frequently travelling back and forth for a combination of work, events and life in general. I mean, it’s the most liveable city right?
From the moment you walk in the entrance and breathe in — your senses tingle. The lobby and reception area provide a warmth stowed with high end atmosphere.
My room was spacious, modern and styled with opulent décor. (I forgot to mention the shower head was bigger than my overnight bag!)
As I have alluded previously, I’m a very routine orientated kind of guy. So as you can imagine, I was thrilled that the Metropol catered for my (early-riser) workout routine! The gym offers a full panoramic view of Melbourne CBD. If that doesn’t motivate you, I'm not sure what will! The gym even offers towels and cool purified water! Yes, very convenient.
Situated adjacent to the gym, is a breath taking infinity pool that spans the length of the building. If you like it a little warmer, there's a spa too! And, yes — you can walk from the gym to the pool without losing sight of the city.
For breakfast, the options include room service (my favourite is the Continental Breakfast with a flat white) or Mr Hive Kitchen and Bar.
As for location, there's something refreshing about being on the brink of the city and outskirts of CBD madness. If I’m working, my office is a short 10 min stroll (or 7 minute brisk walk) away. I’ve nailed it to the enth degree.

Upon return, I’m spoilt for choice. Unwinding for me consists of laying next to the pool listening to podcasts or reading. I'm currently reading '12 Rules of Life' by Jordan Peterson… it's not everybody's cup of tea.
In the evening, Crown really flexes its muscles with entertainment offerings. It's safe to say, there's something for everyone — Casino, Restaurants, Bars, Cinema, Live Music, Ten Pin Bowling, Karaoke and more recently mini golf (if that's your thing). For me, I heard rave reviews about Koko, one of Crowns premium restaurants. The authentic teppanyaki was impeccable.
I'm a super competitive person at heart, and it only felt right to try a round of 9 holes at Holy Moley. Let's say the cocktails are a notch better than my putting.
At short walking distance I was back at my room [home]. The bed is one of the comfiest I've slept on (that's no exaggeration). Better yet, I could close the shades and blinds via a remote.
Lights out, good night world.
Yours truly,
JR
